Ancient Roman Architecture


          Ancient Roman civilization which is located on the peninsula Apenia ( now called Italy ) and was centered in the city of Rome. At the beginning of this civilization ranging from the nation's life in the valley of the river Tiber Latia and live by farming . In the legend of the city of Rome was founded by Romulus ( the first king of the Roman Empire ). Later in the year 492 BC Latium start Etruskia ruled by the powerful and influential , but in the end the nation Latia rebelled and succeeded in establishing a new State , namely the Roman Empire is a republic. At first the Romans lived as a farmer , but after a successful Roman nation against nation Etruskia , this nation into a capitalist and materialist society . They are belligerent and accumulate wealth.Culture Nation Roman is a mixture of two cultures of the Greeks and Etruskia. The Romans advanced in science and technology advanced the theory of the ancient Greeks. Trust the ancient Romans alike with confidence the Greek nation believed in gods - gods. But they worship different gods. People - the roman create amazing works of building techniques. Roman art and culture of the nation that tends to be oriented in Greece. Many relics - relics of Roman civilization as building monuments and temples .
Ancient Roman Architecture
               People - Romans liked to create something magnificent , luxurious and monumental, as well as to attract attention. They created art, sculpture or relief stately and ornate. People - the roman create amazing works of building techniques. Such as building drains ( aquaduct ), bridges, large buildings for meeting halls and markets, building for sports and performing arts (Thermen, theater, amphitheater), Also a temple to worship the gods. The Romans continued the knowledge of the Greeks, among others, with the construction of the arch to make the room more spacious.   • Juno Temple Sospita

          This temple is located in Rome. Vesta temple is a place of ancient worship activities as far as the 7th century BC . With the expected circular shape vesta temple are the remnants of ancient Latin or Etruscan temple.

  • Baths of Caracalla
          Baths of Caracalla public baths, or thermae built in Rome between 212 m and 216 m during the reign of the emperor Caracalla. The complex of buildings is more precisely termed entertainment center rather than baths. Besides being able to afford accommodating 1,600 people , there are also public libraries and school wrestling. The baths were used until the 6th century.
 
  •  Colosseum
The Colosseum is a historic heritage in theform of
a large performance hall called elliptical amphitheater or by its original name
Flavian Amphitheatre. Located in the capital of Italy, Rome, which was founded
by King during the Roman Empire Vespasian and completed by his son Titus. The
Coliseum was designed to accommodate 50,000 spectators. The venue for a spectacular
show, which is a fight between animals ( venetaiones ). For hundreds of years, the
estimated thousands of people and animals die in the Coliseum performances.
Imperial Forum
             Imperial Forums ( Fori Imperiali in Italian) consist of a series of monumental forum ( public squares ), constructed in Rome over one and a half centuries, between 46 BC and 113 AD. This forum is the center of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire.
         Imperial forums, while not part of the Roman Forum, located relatively close to each other. Julius Caesar was the first to build in this part of Rome and is set back both the Forum and the Comitium , another type of forum space devoted to politics, to do so. This forum is the center of politics, religion and economics in the ancient Roman Empire.
Roman Architectural Characteristics
  • There has been no construction of arch, so it no longer requires large intact rock to the beam.
  • Greek elements are still there but have been modified and more as decoration. 
  • Plan has begun to vary , rectangles , circles , half circles, and the combination of these forms. 
  • It is no longer functioning as part of the construction , but into the wall ( pilaster ), serves as decoration. 
  • Start using the construction of the arch to the roof, then evolved into the dome. 
  • The head of the column generally korintien or floral homage to the more complex.
